For this plan to be effective,
all staff need to be familiar with the procedures of the plan and be consistent
in its implementation.
Teachers need to establish very
good classroom management strategies.
Expected classroom behaviours
need to be linked to the School Expectations (refer NDS Behaviour Expectations
2009.)
The plan is for use when
classroom strategies appear not to be working effectively, have been exhausted
or a major offence has occurred.(refer Major & Minor Offences list)
The plan is aimed to make
students more aware of their responsibility towards their own behaviour.
The plan provides for quick
intervention to avoid putting children at risk.
A standard ‘Advice Letter’ will
be sent via mail, for all major offences on the first day of the “Hot Spot”
once the student has responded to their part of the letter. Parents/caregivers
sign and return the letter in the stamp addressed envelope provided.
A photo copy of the letter will
be filed in the Behaviour Management Folder.
As stated in the Behaviour Policy
it is a shared parent/caregiver responsibility to help modify student
behaviour.
