Examples of Minor and Major Offences

Minor Offences

a)    Unexplained lateness to assembly or class

 

b)   Littering – dropped wrappers

                      - food not in bins

c)    Disruption of class learning

 

d)   Inappropriate Dress – no hat in summer, wearing incorrect jewellery, wearing nail polish, untied long hair 

 

e)   In designated out of bounds areas, within the school boundary,

 

f)    Sweets at school, chewing gum or fizzy drinks

 

g)   Running around buildings and on veranda.

 

h)   Leaving belongings at school after reminders to take home

 

i)      Leaving classroom without permission

 

j)     Interfering with others play

 

g)   Unresolved disputes – cheating accusations, refusing to resolve

 

h)   PE gear left out

 

i)      Unsuitable “play” e.g. “Scrag Tag” type games

Major Offences

a)       Verbal  Abuse (put downs, intimidation, obscenities)

 

b)               Physical  Abuse (Intentional hitting, pushing, kicking and biting, strangling)

 

c)                Offensive Language (deliberate swearing)

 

d)               Teacher/staff disrespect (answering back, rudeness, obscenities)

 

e)               Disobedience (refusing to work, follow commands)

 

f)                Leaving school property without permission

 

g)               Damage and mis-use of school and other student’s property.(including stealing)

 

h)               Bullying  – repeated verbal, physical and emotional abuse and exclusion

 

i)                  Ongoing disruption of class learning

j)                 Ongoing “non conforming” (negative attitude towards school life)
