Group Policy
Rational:
The Norsewood &
Districts School Support Group plays an integral role in fundraising and social
activities that benefit the school and the children. (Enhance the academic, sporting and cultural
values within our school.)
Purposes
- Maintain Norsewood & Districts
School as the prime
focus for primary education.
- Support Norsewood & Districts School in
enhancing academic, sporting and cultural values.
- Organise fundraising
and social events.
- Encourage and value
parent/community participation in events.
- Communicate ideas,
progress and outcomes of events.
Guidelines
- The
Support Group is formed under the umbrella of the B.O.T.
- The Group
will meet monthly during the school year and hold an Annual Meeting in March each
year. The monthly meetings will be open to all school families.
- The make
up of the group to consist of one Staff Representative, one B.O.T.
Representative, a Parent Committee plus Principal invitation
- Officer holders, a Parent
Chairman Representative, a Parent Minutes Secretary, Promotions
Representatives and a Parent Financial Representative to be elected
at the annual meeting.
- The School
Support Group sets realistic
targets to fundraise for major projects and other resources from a priority listing
(known as a Targets and Wish List) derived in consultation with parents
and staff and using the Strategic Thinking Survey indicators.
- The School
Support Group will spend raised
money on prioritized projects as indicated on the Targets and Wish
List providing sufficient funds are available.
- The recording
of minutes to be done by
nominated minutes secretary. Minutes to be published by Secretary and be distributed within one week of
meeting date through school office.
- Promotions Representative
publishing may also be a task carried out by the School Office
Staff.
- The School
Support Group selects social events, organises and
promotes events.
- Reporting
on progress of an event and/or following an event, be a priority.
Keep the school and District Communities and B.O.T. well informed.
- The School
Support Group give consideration in planning its fundraising events
to target a variety of groups - School Community, District Community
and the Wider Community.
- The School
Support Group promotes and encourages full parent participation.
- Give the
utmost consideration to safety issues that may arise when
holding events.
- Review set
goals/targets annually and report to B.O.T. and Community.
- The role
of the Parent Financial Representative will be well defined. Ensure that the Financial Representative works
closely with B.O.T. representative and office staff. All financial records
will be
kept on computer file at the school office. Engage
elected members only in collecting money. List all possible expenses prior
to an event. Present an Income/Expenditure report for each event.
