                                              SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY              

Guidelines:

1. A regulation uniform is compulsory for all students at Norsewood & Districts School. New Students who arrive during the school year have seven days from the date of enrolment to purchase their uniform.
2. Parents are free to select any combination of uniform items from the approved list to suit the weather conditions at the time. There is no official summer and winter uniform. Students are not however permitted to “layer” uniform items inappropriately e.g. they are not permitted to wear the short sleeved polo shirt over the top of the skivvy.
3. Students are not permitted to wear non-regulation clothing items along with their compulsory uniform.
4. An acceptable written explanation is required to be given to the class teacher if a student is unable to wear the uniform on any given day unless under extreme circumstances (clothing being laundered is not an acceptable excuse).
5. The school has acquired a supplier Design-A-Printz (237 Umutaoroa Road, Dannevirke) who deals with all new orders. Orders can be made through the school office using the official order form or make direct contact with the supplier.
6. Second hand uniforms are available from a designated person willing to administer this task. Enquires to be made through the school office.
7. The school logo is the property of the Board of Trustees and can not be screen printed onto non regulation clothing items purchased from an unauthorised supplier.
8. No jewellery is to be worn other than a wrist watch and blessed ponamus for Maori students.   Ear piercing (studs only) will be permitted but no other piercings are allowed. Long hair to be tied back and no make up is permitted.
9. It will be encouraged that students change into sports gear for any lengthy physical education activities and sports fixtures. There is no official sports uniform except for netball, rugby fixtures and interschool fixtures.
10. A regulation sun hat is compulsory during Term 1 and 4 and a beanie for use during Terms 2 and 3.
11. Year 7 & 8 students attending Technology at Dannevirke High School are required to wear covered shoes at all times. (Roman sandals are not permitted).
12. The uniform must be kept clean and tidy at all times and uniform items need to be worn correctly.
13. It is a requirement of this policy that all uniform items are named.
14. A student who fails to wear the correct school uniform is deemed to be breaking a school expectation and any non compliance will be treated seriously in accordance with our  the school’s Behaviour Management Plan
15. Often, assistance from WINZ can help parents/guardians through the initial outlay.
